Afryka Nowaka
PlayExtreme takes care of the mission
Expedition following Kazimierz Nowak’s traces is a two-year project, involving directly about 90 people during subsequent stages. The participants follow traces of an outstanding Polish traveller while riding their bicycles. The relay race will be supplemented with walking and horse- or camel-riding episodes, and even passages in dingies. There are 40,000km to pass, across 17 countries!
PlayExtreme just could not miss such a project. We supported the expedition, providing them with POV camera for the whole 24 months! The daredevils will test themselves and the equipment in a difficult and changeable region. They must beware of wild animals and rapid torrents of the Kongo river. Routes leading trough deserts and rivers, on a bicycle saddle or by camel will be recorded multimedially and in a form of a printed report. Materials from the expedition will be published on PlayExtreme videoblog.
Kazmierz Nowak realised discovering of the African land for 5 years. The lonely expedition started in 1931. The route led from Tripoli to Cape Agulhas and back to the North, to Alger. In his reports, he described problems of the native inhbitants, not keeping away from sensitivity, so different from the colonial atmosphere. Without entering politics, based on the own, miserly funds and real passion, the history of the man of success came to being. He fulfilled his dreams that were reported nearly 70 years after the expedition by Łukasz Wierzbicki in his book named By Bicycle and on Foot across the Dark Continent.

It is worth to recall the achievements of the true hero. Their range and importance was paid for with numerous tropical diseases. One year after he returned to Poland, Kazimierz Nowak lost his battle for life with penumonia...
Medial patronage over the expedition was taken over by National Geographic, Gazeta Wyborcza, RowerTour, Newsweek, Onet.pl, and Traveler.
